Jackfruit Grilled Cheese from The Stand Vegan Cafe in Fairfield, CT

This was my second visit to The Stand (they are 100% vegan). I was excited to try their jackfruit grilled cheese (which is buffalo-marinated jackfruit, mozzarella, grilled nine-grain bread, served with blue cheese and celery). I had it prepared gluten-free. Worth noting, this is a special item and isn’t always available.

For some (no good) reason, I only recently discovered jackfruit. Wow, I have been missing out. It has this amazing texture (great in nugget form) and takes on the flavor of whatever it is being cooked with. This was a solid/tasty/filling sandwich, it has a great crunch to it and the buffalo flavor was not overpowering, which can be challenging sometimes.
